The e-book edition of the biography of former North Carolina-based drug kingpin Ike Atkinson is out. The print book is scheduled for release June 15. Authored by Ron Chepesiuk, Sergeant Smack: the Legendary Lives of Ike Atkinson, Kingpin, and his Band of Brothers exposes the lies propagated by the 2007 movie “American Gangster,” a Hollywood fantasy that purportedly depicted the life of Frank Lucas, the so-called “Superfly.” Based on exclusive interviews with Ike Atkinson and other sources, Sergeant Smack investigates the Asian heroin connection, the cadaver-heroin hoax, the Lucas-Atkinson relationship and the drug scene of the 1970s.
