Chepesiuk focuses the story into a nice cohesive narrative. The chronological order is a given, but the author throws in interesting asides that enhances rather than derail the writing. This is another nice addition to the true crime canon.
— Blog Critics Magazine

Black Gangsters of Chicago is a true crime chronicle of Chicago’s legendary and infamous black criminals. John “Mushmouth” Johnson, Jeff Fort, and Larry Hoover may not have been as publicly high-profile as Al Capone, but their deed were just as brutal and notorious. From brief biographies of prominent black gangsters, to their connections to La Cosa Nostra and its assimilation of the numbers racket, to the fascinating (and disturbing) tale of how gangs carried out their business while behind bars, Black Gangsters of Chicago is a thorough exploration of an oft-overlooked aspect of the seedier side of Chicago’s past. A recommended and worthy addition to true crime shelves.
— Marc Levin, Director and Producer, Mr. Untouchable (Nicky Barnes Story)

Ron Chepesiuk’s vividly written masterful work finally demonstrates what many of us have been trying to say for years; organized crime is a multi-ethnic enterprise—not simply limited to Italians and Sicilians.
Chepesiuk’s aptitude for revealing the inner workings of organized crime within a community is once again on display here as the reader is cast into Miami’s bloody underbelly. A remarkable achievement by the author.”
– Steve Morris Publisher, The New Criminologist

With a sharp eye for detail and a crisp writing style, Ron Chepsiuk peels back the layers of sun-drenched Miami, exposing a history of corruption and crime, stretching from the Mafia to the Colombian cartels to the Russian mob to the little-known Cuban Corporation. It’s one of the most complete looks at crime in South Florida.”
– William Hryb, Contributing Writer, Canadian Sailings / Transportation & Trade Logistics magazine

Ron Chepesiuk’s book on the Trafficantes takes the reader behind the headlines to the real story, uncensored and without filters. The book is fast-paced with fascinating factual details told in Chepesiuk’s trademark tell-it-as-it-is writing style. A must read for true crime aficionados.”
